Jan 2014

Master Curtis and slave wen took me today for a day trip in their Jeep to Sedona, Arizona, What an amazing place. Mother Nature did an amazing job in they corner of our world. The red rock mountains and the millenary ruins were just amazing, Spending time with Master Curtis and slave wen was so special as well. They are very close to my slave paul, as all of them are from Maine.

Southwest Leather Conference

We have been in Phoenix for the Southwest Leather Conference since Thursday. I have been attending this annual event except for one time that I have to canceled when I was sick. This event, usually the the woo-woo event for the Leather spirituality theme, was founded by Master Steve, the man I consider my mentor in the M/s dynamic.

This year, I presented two classes: Leather Families and Living Real and Authentic Lives, the Key to pour Happiness. Both were well attended and well received.

Three members of our Leather Family were in attendance. Sir Greg and slave aaron and Gypsie. Sur Greg was both a presenter and judge and Gypsie was a volunteer,

Race Bannon delivered a powerful Keynote Speech that I agree with for the most part. The speech in part was a validation of one of my classes (Living Real and Authentic Lives).

As always, the Dance of Souls was a great spiritual experience. It makes this event so special.

Defenders 22nd Anniversary

This evening, we celebrated the 22nd Anniversary of the Defenders Leather Levi Club of Washington, which was the first leather organization I ever belong to. I have been a member for the last 21 years and served as President from 2002 to 2004. This was the club that opened the doors of the Leather Community for me. The rest is history.

As usual, the celebration was with a Leather Mass at Dignity on the last day of MidAtlantic Leather Weekend. After that the members crossed the street for a nice dinner and camaraderie,

slave paul accompanied me to the celebration.

Happy Birthday, Master J

Today is Master J’s Birthday, a Senior Master in our Leather Family. So we had her for a succulent breakfast in our home this morning to start her day with a bang. As always slave paul put together a very nice breakfast and we have a great time.

She has been part of our lives for many years, but it has been a blessing to have her in our Leather Family for over two years.

Farewell to the DC Eagle

The DC Eagle has been in business for 42 years and three locations. After 27 years in the current location at New York Avenue, the Eagle will be closing its doors before the end of this month and reopen in the late summer in an old warehouse on Northeast Washignton.

For a Leathermen, our local Eagle is always part of our personal history and journey. I moved to the DC area exactly 30 years ago and right away discovered the Eagle, its second version on 7th Street. So the Eagle has been part of my life for the last 30 years and the current location has seen each stage of my journey.

On the eve of MAL Weekend, I went last night for the last time as I am leaving town next week and won’t be for the official closure. A barrage of visuals came through my mind of my three decades at the DC Eagle, particularly the night a friend formally invited me to join the Defenders club, which became my official entry into the Leather community. I also remembered so many of my boys, those who served for long term and short term, that accompanied me to the Eagle throughout the years, and the many others that I met at the bar as well. Special thoughts were for my late slave tommy, who just loved the bar.

The bar nights, the slave auctions, the contest, bake sales, fund-raisers, my many flogging sessions in the old cross in the deck, and so on. Once more I remembered the “Dungeon Master” of the Eagle, Daddy Jim Raymond, who just passed away two weeks ago and who is the person that I credit with showing me my baby steps in the art of flogging while watching him flogging boys at the bar, something that I emulated years later.

Lots of mixed feelings while walking around the bar one last time. Thirty years of memories are now gone for me, but they will be part of my journey and never forgotten. Lets see what the future brings at the fourth location of the DC Eagle.

MAsT DC Pan Munch

The first munch for MAsT DC Pan was a blast. Great food! I tried the new tilapia and shrimp plate from the Oliver Garden.

Sir Aerius, my new mentee, attended his first MAsT munch. Sir Robert and slave jenna sat next to me and we hand a great conversation as always. Good time.

Defenders Christmas Party

Today we had our annual Christmas Party of the Defenders LLC, my first Leather club and the one I have been a member for over 20 years now. slave david was the only one to attend with me, as slave paul was not feeling well with a stomach virus and slave boy mordecai was visiting his family.

As usual, it was a great gathering of old friends, great food and a fun exchange of gift. For his coffee addict, it made a lot of sense to return home with a Starbucks mug and gift card.

Leather Family's New Year Celebration

Last night we had our traditional Formal Leather Dinner with many of the members of our Leather Family followed by the New Year celebration.

Besides my slaves paul and david, and slave boy mordecai, Master J, Sir Ross and his girl Tara came from New York and Sir Robert and slave jenna from Baltimore. Our special guests were Master David and slave talila, as well as slave phillip and slave ashley.

The dinner was our traditional Puerto Rican Dinner: Roasted Pork, rice, salads and green bananas in special salsa. We also had three traditional desserts.

It was a great gathering and a special way to welcome the new year, 2014.
